Our Story

In 1998, Amanda Clark Davis and her husband founded the Overcomers Ministry. With God’s promise, their vision of a cancer support group for cancer victims and their caregivers was born.

“For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?” (1 John 5:4-5)

When the ministry began, Jennie Chapman was led by the Lord to assist them. Little did anyone know that on October 1, 1999, Amanda would move to heaven. This left the ministry open, as she had left behind a husband and a small son. Later that month, at a support group meeting, her husband asked if any of the group members were led to take over this ministry. Rusty and Jennie just knew, by the prompting of Holy Spirit, that they were to fill this position. This started their part of this ministry.

Rusty and Jennie began to hold cancer support group meetings. As you may be aware, people living with cancer often cannot be around colds, viruses, or germs, as their immune systems are compromised by the cancer-fighting drugs they must take. Thus, it made it very hard to hold meetings. That’s when they prayed about what to do.

They were then led to mail out monthly devotionals on postcards to those on the member’s list. They also began to go to homes and pray with the people. Over the years, Abba God began to make more changes. Rusty and Jennie were ordained as ministers of the gospel. Then in September 2008, the ministry’s name changed to Overcomers by Faith Ministry.

As of now, they mail out healing materials in the form of MP3’s, Books, CDs, and Cards as Holy Spirit leads. They go to hospitals and homes to pray. You can contact them for prayer at any time.

There are many people fighting to “Overcome” this dreadful disease of cancer and so many other diseases. BUT GOD — Who is rich in mercy, would have it that NONE should PERISH. The Word says, “Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain (cancer), be lifted up and thrown into the sea! And does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him. For this reason, I am telling you whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will (get it).” (Mark 11:23-24).
